Obituary

Hampton Delano Eura was born on November 2, 1940 in Caroline County, Va. to the late Louise Monte.


On Friday, March 28, 2014, Hampton was called to eternal rest at the Bowling Green Health & Rehab Center.

Hampton received his early education in the Caroline County Public School System. Hampton graduated from Union High School.

Hampton was affectionately known as "Hamp" or "Colossal Duck". Hamp worked for DeJarnette Lumber Company for over 40 years as a fork lift operator. Hamp was a dedicated worker and he never missed a day from work.


Hamp was preceded in death by his son, Hampton Delano Eura, Jr., his brother, Joseph Lorenzo Monte, and his great grandson, Baby Bradley Boje Robinson.

Hamp leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Bertha B. Eura, four daughters; Sedessa M. Turner (Stephen), Vanessa D. Eura, Lynette R. Street (Earl), Melissa R. Latney (Clarence, "Mike"), 9 grandchildren, Schirra D. Eura, Toronto D. Eura, Kristy L. Eura, Porsha R. Eura, Delonte D. Eura, Jovante O. Eura, Clarence M. Latney, Jr., Zion L. Latney, Taneikqwa M. Eura, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Emma "Sue" Waller, and Della M. Holmes, 1 brother, James "Lucious" Eura, 3 sons-in-law, Steven O. Turner, Earl F. Street, Jr, Elder Clarence M. Latney, Sr., 8 brothers-in-law, Sargeant Billie Day, Willie "Sonny" Holmes, Franklin Myers, Richard Myers, Larry, Fortune, Wesley Chapman, Charles "Charlie Boy"Chapman, John Chapman, 4 sisters-in-law, Margaret Myers, Regina Fortune, Carolyn Chapman Day, and Sarah Baber. Special friends, Carolyn Rousey, Demetrius Washington, Van Thomas, Mel Gibson, Jeanette Roper, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friday, April 4, 2014 from 12 Noon - 8 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11 AM, St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Rd., Woodford, Virginia 22580 with Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Services of Comfort entrusted to: C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., Bowling Green, Virginia.
