Obituary

Grace Jarvis, 92 of Fredericksburg, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday June 7, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Grace was born and raised in Kitty, Guyana South America by her parents, Robert and Grace Lloyd Gilbert. Grace was the last survivor of her parents, sisters and brothers.

She came to the United States at the age of 23  and in 1953 she met and married her husband, Leonard H. Jarvis and to this union three children were born, Robert, Shirley and Patricia. Together they raised their children in Brooklyn, New York.

Grace was a gentle soul, quiet spoken and very dedicated to her family. Grace had a compassionate heart for the homeless and those that were less fortunate than her and gave generously to many charities over the years. She always tried to help any family member in need.

Grace served in the public school system in New York in the dietary department for many years  later retired in 1989.

She and her husband Leonard moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2001 where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Leonard went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2004.

She leaves to cherish her memories son; Robert and his wife Kathleen;  daughters, Shirley Griffith and her husband Hubert and Patricia Evans; six grandchildren, Tori, Sean, Bryce, Karim, Christiana and Kyle; seven great grandchildren, Kamden, Kayla, Kristopher, Kevaughn, Bella, Aniya and Keani and a loving line of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 for close family and friends.

A Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019  at the chapel of Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend James and Cynthia Arkord  will be officiating. interment will follow where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

Grace will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
