Gloria Childs Baylor known as Nee-Nee to her family and friends, was known for being humble and very loving; she had a heart of gold. She would keep everyone laughing because she loved to tell jokes and she kept a smile on her face. Gloria loved cooking and if you stopped by, there was a home-cooked meal. She was the kind of person who was willing to lend a helping hand and her home was everyone's home. Her consistent advice was to stay in school, be somebody in life and always keep God in your plans. She was a loving big sister, cousin, aunt, and mother to some.

Gloria attended Hart Junior High School in Washington, D.C. and the Caroline County School System. She also received diplomas and certificates of completion from Penn State College. Gloria joined the Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Arthur Farmer, , and she was very helpful to all organizations that needed her

In May 1986, she was united in holy matrimony to Dean Baylor and although no biological children were born, they adopted Brittany as their own.

Her career included working for the Caroline County Department of Public Works and in the Caroline County Sheriff's Office as a Court Deputy and as a Control Room Operator. She worked there until her health issues forced her to leave. Captain Scott Moser called her "the eyes in the sky", which made her smile and laugh.

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Sally Yvonne Wilson Childs; a loving and devoted grandmother, Mary E. Childs; two brothers, Clifton "Man" Childs and Jeffery Childs; Stepfather Hampton "Nuie" Childs; three aunts, Mary "Cookie" Roye, Fannie Childs and Florence Parker.

Washed in the Blood and perfect in His sight, she leaves cherished memories to Dean Baylor of Bowling Green, Virginia; one daughter, Brittany Coleman; two granddaughter, Bre'Niayah and La'Breyah Coleman of Ruther Glen, Virginia; a loving and devoted father, Walton "June" Childs and stepmother Blanche Morton-Childs of Ruther Glen; godmother Cachita Myers; seven sisters, Peggy Wright(Johnnie) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Joyce Hopkins (Curtis) of Stafford, Virginia, Vicky Freeman of Richmond, Virginia, Audrey Latney (Leon) of Dale City, Virginia, Regina Morton of Bowling Green, Virginia, Catina Burrell(Tim) of Ruther Glen and Theresa McNary (Dwight) of Woodford, Virginia; seven brothers, James Wilson (Viola) of Woodford, Bobby Childs of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Tasha Washington of Washington, D.C., Bruce Morton of Ruther Glen, Tony Morton (Amanda) of Woodford, Bernard Morton of Ruther Glen, and Corey Myers of Ruther Glen; three aunts, Agnes Wilson of New York, Myrtle Rock of Ruther Glen and Diane Daniels of Bowling Green; one uncle Billy Childs(Barbara); three great aunts, Margaret Coefield, Christian Minor and Thelma Minor all of Maryland; one great uncle, Brent Childs (Ann) of Ruther Glen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Caroline Community Center 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
