George  Arthur Herndon of Fredericksburg, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

He was born on June 21, 1944 in Caroline County to the late Berkeley Lee and Ethel Lee Herndon. George was preceded in death by his four brothers Edward, William, Robert and Allen and a sister-in-law Hazel, a brother-in-law James (AB) and a foster sister Mae Rose.

At an early age he joined Beulah Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia. George was a man of many talents. He had a love for cooking and was a chef at several of the restaurants throughout the Fredericksburg area until his health failed. He also loved to cook for family and friends. George was a person who spent his life as a caregiver to others especially his brother Robert. He was always there when you needed him. He loved and celebrated life and to all who knew him, George was just, George.

His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted sister Sadie, his foster brother Tony, three sisters-in-law Joyce, LaQuisha (Tina) and Synette, close friend Phyllis, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2019, at  C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday April 17, 2019, at  C.W. Edwards Funeral Home ,with a viewing one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Mt. Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
