On Saturday, May 18, 2013, God in his loving mercy called to rest George Ellis Claiborne. He was born in Caroline County, Virginia on February 15, 1940, to the late Amelia Toliver and Ellis Claiborne. He was raised by the late Esther Boone.

He was an active member of the community where he loved delivering baked goods to churches and daycare centers. As a young child, George loved fishing, playing basketball, working on the farm and driving the tractor.
He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Oxford Mt. Zion in 1946. He continued as an active member where he served on the Unity Choir, the Sanctuary Choir, The Mighty Men of Oxford and the Mass Choir. He also served as a trustee of the church and the Men's Fellowship. Family and friends will always hold fond memories of the times spent with him.
