Obituary

Geneva Marie Hudson Lewis, 85  of Caroline County, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the residence of her daughter in Germantown, Maryland.

Geneva Marie Hudson Lewis was born on December 4, 1936 in Caroline County to the late Eula Mae Fortune Hudson Lee and the late Raymond Theodore Hudson Sr.  Geneva entered into holy matrimony with Freddie Rubeun Lewis Sr. on October 4, 1952 and from that union came 8 children.  Geneva was educated in the Caroline County School System.  She continued her education after the passing of her husband and earned a B.S. degree in Social Services from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Geneva cherished her beloved family always stressing the importance of receiving a great education to each of them.  Cooking in her younger years was one of her greatest hobbies.  Often the aromas of her homemade breads, sweet potato pies and cinnamon roll buns made your mouth water with anticipation of the meal and treats to come.  She also had an unconditional love for her dogs.  Once she was unable to provide for them with the finest care, she asked her daughters to take them.  Cocoa, Eboni, TiTi and GiGi are living their best lives.  When they visited her they always provided her with that extra boost of energy that she needed.  They brought her so much love and joy.

Geneva was an avid gardener, she had a green thumb, and her flower garden was a sight to behold. She enjoyed collecting clippings from family and friends and making her dreams come to light.  You would see fresh cut flowers and vegetables ripe for the picking when visiting her home. She started a rose garden with a small patch on the side of her home which evolved into a rose garden that spread over the entire side of the house.  She planted tulips in the front of her home, and they returned year after year for her nurturing care with a rainbow of vibrant assorted colors.

She leaves to mourn her memory 5 daughters and 3 sons; Phyllis Brummell (Darrnell), Eula Tillar, Geneva Gray, Freddie R. Lewis Jr. (MonaLisa), Ronnie O. Lewis (Adriane), Craig R. Lewis, Veronica Thorn (John) and Priscilla Lewis. She leaves 16 grandchildren; Nequita Street, Alisha Johnson, Duane Tillar, Justin Tillar, Chanel Zelaya, Celeste Gray, Freddie R. Lewis III (Azura), Devin Lewis, Andrew Lewis, Cameron Lewis (Lauren), Nicole Lewis, Aaron Lewis, Connor Lewis, Craijetta Lewis, Craitishia Lewis, and Craijece Lewis; 10 great grandchildren; Raven Street, Diamontay Street, Julyian Street, Christian Zelaya, Nicholas Zelaya, Zacarias Barrera, Lael Olivia Lewis, Craijuan Lewis, Christian Lewis, and Cairo Lewis. Also mourning their loss are her sisters; Pearl Belcher and Edna Roye, her husband David Roye, her sister-in-law Jane Hudson and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 21180 Bagby Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
