Franklin Gray, Sr. 95, son of the late William Arthur and Fannie Gray, was born on October 6, 1922. He entered into eternal rest on November 30, 2017 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Spotsylvania, Virginia
Frank accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Chilesburg, Virginia where he was a member of the choir, a trustee, and treasurer, in which he served faithfully for many years. He was a master carpenter and strong in the masonry field. He crafted the church bell tower, entrance piers, and many more projects at the church. Frank attended Caroline County Public schools, and retired from Quantico Marine Corp. Base as a Motion Picture Craftsman.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and joking with family and friends. He built his own BBQ pit made of stone. Frank put the pit to plenty of use, by cooking his home grown vegetables on it and sharing with his family and fiends in the community.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, of many years, Gladys Gray and daughter, Gwendolyn Gray.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Shelia Brooks ( Anthony) of Richmond, Virginia and Cynthia Gray of Ruther Glen, Virginia; one son Franklyn Gray, Jr. of Ruther Glen, Virginia; three grandchildren, Laryl Taylor of Richmond, Virginia, Bradley Gray of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Terrence Gray (Sasha) of Chesterfield, Virginia; one great grandchild, Terrence K. Gray, Jr.; one nephew, Rudolph (Pearl) Gray of Ruther Glen, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Joyce Bradshaw; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Roach (Lois) and Oliver Roach (Gaynell); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
