Franklin Lloyd Minor Jr., affectionately known as "Buck" was born on September 6, 1944 to the late Franklin Minor Sr. and Elfletta Chatman Minor and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at MedStart Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Louise Minor and brother James Minor.
He attended the public schools of Caroline County, Virginia and was a graduate of Union High School where he excelled at baseball and basketball. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. John Baptist Church. Buck (as he was affectionately called by his family and friends), had a thirst for travel so he followed in his father's footsteps in the trucking industry, driving cross country too many times to count. Some of his most cherished moments was when his family would ride along on those trips. Just like his Mom, Buck was passionate in the kitchen and often expressed his love for food and people through cooking.
Buck leaves to cherish his memory his life partner, Evelyn Penn of Essex, Maryland; children; Barry L. Minor, of Port Royal VA, Lisa Minor-Smith (Joseph) of Bowie MD, Leslie F. Minor of Upper Marlboro, MD and Ramon D. Minor of Silver Spring, MD; son and daughter-in-law Gregory Penn, Jr and Alega Scriber-Penn. He is also survived by brothers, Eugene Minor (Gloria) of Clinton, MD, Oliver Minor (Morcia) of Upper Marlboro MD, Calvin Minor (Veronica) of Fairfax, VA, Herbert Minor, of Oxon Hill, MD and Marcel Minor (Joy), of Milford, VA; grandchildren, Barry L. Minor, Jr, Francesca N. Chambers, Lourdes Minor, Julian L. Smith, Gregory Penn, III, Alira Penn, Xavier Minor and Lauren M. Smith; aunts, Delores Brewington and Gloria Chatman, both of Milford VA, and Vivian Claxton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania uncle, Reginald Minor (Evelyn),of Milford, VA He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Saint John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a mask or face covering is required upon entering the funeral home.
