Obituary

Francis Douglas Richardson 85, of Ruther Glen, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 10, 1935 to the late Mary Alice Richardson. Francis attended Caroline County Public Schools. He later worked on the family farm with his grandparents, Daniel and Susie Richardson. He enlisted in the United Sates Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. After two and half years of service, he received an honorable discharge. Upon his return home, he held various jobs, his latest as working as a gate attendant for Caroline County Public Works for twenty five years.

Francis was a god fearing man who expressed his love of God through the love he had for his family and his acts of kindness to all. His grandkids were his biggest joy and he loved spending time with them. He had a love for baseball and was known as "Kim" and "Shorty" on the ballfield. He continued to enjoy this sport  by attending and supporting his grandkids on the field. If he was not on the field, he was cutting grass or rigging something up in the yard. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and was sure to let everyone know.

Francis was united in holy matrimony to Sarah Jean Chapman on December 7, 1974, and to this union two daughters were born, Lashawn Maloy (Timothy) and Frani Peatross. (Nathan). They also have an adopted son, Senaca Davis. Prior to his marriage he had a daughter, Twonder Harris (Kenny).

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Smith.

In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to cherish his memories ten grandchildren; Tiffani, Trey, Timothy, Bria (Travis) Sheniah, Nevaeh, Brayden, Nylah, Bryson and Kylie; two great granddaughters, Kennedi, and Alani; five brothers, Elbert Smith, Danny Smith (Gladys), George Smith (Brenda), Willie Shepherd, and John Shepherd; six sisters, Gloria (Gene), Mary Sue Davis (John), Patricia Rock (Donnell), Shirley Shepherd, Delores Shepherd and Virginia Pitts and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
