Frances Ethel Washington departed this life on June 17, 2021, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Frances was born August 11, 1944, in Caroline County to the late Augusta and Elizabeth Smith. Frances was employed at Kellers Industries in her earlier age but was mostly known as the neighborhood babysitter who was greatly loved by many children and parents. Frances enjoyed many days watching soap operas, chatting on the phone with loved ones, or sitting on her front porch soaking up the sun.

Frances was joined in holy matrimony to Charles E. Washington on March 16, 1966, and this union was blessed with three children.

Frances was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Charles, and Augusta Smith; and two sisters, Ruth Dozier and Ada Mae Ross.

She leaves cherished memories to three sons, Tony Washington (Tonya) of Doswell, Virginia, Charles Washington of Milford, Virginia, and David Washington of Germany; sister, Sallyann Monroe; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Temecia, LaToya, Brittany, Tonaria, Ambria, Tonay, Demetra and Darrius; two step grandchildren, Teal and Cory; fourteen great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wilson Ross; sister-in-law Roselyn Carter; a good friend, Mary White; a niece who was like her daughter, Greta Scott; and a host of other special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A  viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc;16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Homegoing Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19 a mask or face covering will be required.
