Fannye Monte Patterson, 95, of Bowling Green, Va. entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 8, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va.

Fannye was born in Caroline County, Virginia, on December 8, 1913, to the late John and Lucy Monte. She was educated in the Caroline County Public School System. After graduation, Fannye remained closed to home, family and church all while pursuing her career in Baltimore, Maryland, New York and Washington, D.C. She retired from the Pentagon after thirty-five years and returned to Bowling Green to care for her mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Gloria Yvonne Durham of Reston, Virginia and Alberta Monte Morton of Bowling Green, Virginia; one brother, John Monte of Bowling Green; one sister, Hester Roberts of Silver Springs, MD; three grandchildren, Cheryl Mallory, Roderick Durham, and Dina Paltoo; five great grandchildren, Alana Mallory, Trey Mallory, Noah Mallory, Gabrielle Durham and Adrian Paltoo; and a host of other relatives and friends. Fannye was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Patterson and one sister, Beatrice Monte.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and a Christian wake will be held at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral will be held on Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 17247 New Baltimore Road, Milford, Virginia 22514, with Rev. Paul Dorsey, Pastor, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
