A Celebration of Life
Fannie Louise (Saunders) Garnett entered eternal peace on Monday, June 22, 2026, in Locust Grove, Virginia at the age of 93. Born on January 31, 1933, in Brandywine, Virginia, Fannie was the daughter of the late Robert Julius Saunders and the late Nettie Ophelia (Whiting) Saunders. Fannie was affectionately known as "Daffie", a nickname she carried all her life.

Daffie was a compassionate and thoughtful servant of God, living with dignity, goodwill, and infectious laughter. In her earthly roles as daughter all the way to great-great grandmother, Daffie was committed to serving her loved ones with loyalty and a kind heart. She cared for both of her parents during their times of sickness and embodied true devotion as a wife and helpmate to her late husband William Franklin Garnett, Sr. until his passing in 2004. As the mother of 12, Daffie instilled the importance of faith and family in the hearts of her children. She led by graceful example and set a standard of living a life of love and sincerity. She was strong and courageous, facing adversity with the firm belief that God would protect, provide, and guide her all the days of her life. She proudly carried the title of "MeMa" to her grandchildren and all succeeding generations.

While maintaining her household and day-to-day responsibilities, Daffie made headlines for finishing her high school education. She was featured as "A Special Kind of Graduate" on the 1979 front page of the Free Lance Star Newspaper. After several of her children graduated from high school, Daffie took on yet another great feat and explored the job market. She was employed with the Bowling Green Motel, the Caroline County Elementary School cafeteria, and part-time as a School Bus Operator. In her leisure time, Daffie enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, occasional fishing, and spending time with family.

She accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ at an early age. Daffie was a faithful servant of the Lord and worker at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She served as the President of the Usher Board, Deaconess Board, Vice President of the Missionary Circle, Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee, Treasurer of the Flower Club and Pastor's Aide Club. Her final years were spent in Manassas and Locust Grove, VA enjoying familiar pastimes as she shared a home with her daughter Rhonda.

In addition to her parents, Daffie was preceded in death by her beloved husband William, her brother George David Saunders, her granddaughter Randi Garnett, and great-grandson Zarrik Garnett.

Daffie is survived by 12 children: Carolyn Epps, Sharon Allen, William Garnett, Jr. (Conchita), Robert Garnett, Sr. (Leila), Rhonda Garner, James Garnett, Sr. (Dollie), Kathleen Haskett, Leon Garnett (Deda), David Garnett, Sr. (Adline), Shelia Williams (Andre), Roderick Garnett, Sr. (Evet), and Crystal Madison (Brian).

To cherish her memories are her grandchildren: Robert Garnett, Jr. (Jennifer), William Garnett III, LaTonja Garnett, Kimberly Allen, Christopher Garnett, Kevin Epps, James Garnett, Jr., Kristina Graham (Dwayne), Ashli Stokes (Frankie), Shavaughn Garnett, Roderick Garnett, Jr. (Phylicia), David Garnett, II. (Whitney), Shelandria Williams, Adonte Williams, Nigel Garnett (Kayla), Brian Madison, Ahmad Garnett, Aurielle Madison, Camden Garnett, and Eryana Garnett. Sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Also to cherish her memories is her sister-in-law; Omega Garnett, close friends; First Lady Sheronda Dorsey, Shirley Berry and Ivory Simms. Her devoted daughter-in-love, Pamela Garnett, her cousins; Eloise Reed and Mary Neal, who were very close to her. Daffie had countless nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime church and neighborhood friends.

Daffie's life was a testament to the power of faith, connection, and community. As she will surely be missed, her legacy will go forth in the lives of all who knew her. Heavy hearts are made lighter and minds at ease knowing that she now rests in her heavenly home with the Lord.
