Obituary

Evelyn Augusta Childs Taylor, 83, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her residence. She was born on November 22, 1933 to the late Cleveland Augusta and Annie Pearl Childs of Caroline County, Virginia. She was the first of nine children.

Evelyn received her education in the Caroline County Public Schools. She was a wife, mother and housewife.

In 1949 Evelyn married the late Vernon Taylor, Sr; to this union was the late Brenda Louise, the late Vernon, Jr. and Roger Taylor.

Evelyn was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. After her marriage she moved her membership to St. John Baptist Church.

She was loved by all family and friends. She also was a faithful worker at St. John as a member of the Willing Workers Ministries and Senior Choir. She excelled in fundraising for various ministries until her health declined.

On June 15, 2017 an Angel called and said to Evelyn I'm ready for you.

Evelyn was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories one son, Roger Taylor of the home; two grandchildren Quincy Taylor of Ruther Glen, Virginia and Vernell Taylor of Maryland; five great-grandchildren, Kyreem Taylor, Jabar Taylor and Nyjha Washington of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Alijah Morrison and Aiysha Warren of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; four sisters Gladys Arnold and Shirley Latney of Bowling Green, Virginia, Delores Smith of King George, Virginia and Caroline Stubbs of Laurel, Maryland; one aunt Alma Burroughs (John) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law, Leola Childs; a devoted niece and caregiver, Barron (Bettie) Shepherd; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Beth'el Baptist Church 103 Ennis St. Bowling Green, Virginia. Interment will follow in Mt. Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia 22580
