Obituary

Eva Mae Johnson Lewis was the youngest of seven born to the late Eugene and Lelia Johnson on A. P. Hill, Micah, Virginia. She departed this life on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Eva joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age and remained active in the choir. She attended and graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia.

Eva was employed with Keller Aluminum Plant until the corporation closed. She held several other positions from security guard to custodian until she retired.

Eva was joined in Holy matrimony to Eddie Lewis, May 7, 1955 and they were blessed with six children, Lelia, Rudolph, Chastine Eddie, Deborah, Floyd and Diane Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lewis, three sons, Chastine Eddie, Rudolph and Floyd; three sisters, Edith, Lucille and Alcurtis; three brothers, John Sr., Charles and Clifton Johnson; grandson, Devaughn Baker and granddaughter, Shanta Waller.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Lelia, Deborah and Diane; five brothers-in-law, James, Bernard and Charles Lewis of Woodford, Virginia, Joe of Baltimore, Maryland and James Morris of Spotsylvania, Virginia; six sisters-in-law, Ocellia, Helen and Beatrice Lewis of Woodford, Virginia, Emma Lou Christopher of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Rosa Marie of Baltimore, Maryland and Flonettta Johnson of Spotsylvania; eight grandchildren, Amanda Brathwaite, Cachita Wilson, Antoine Lewis, Joseph Conway, Shasta Lewis, Dominique and Desiree Waller, and Zackery Waller; ten great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She attended Caroline County Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging where she loved fellowshipping, shopping and eating with other seniors. She will be greatly missed for her laughter and smile.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home at 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one before the funeral service at the church on Saturday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 127 S. Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with Dr. Arnett A. Rogiers, Pastor delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Mt. Lawn Cemetery in Woodford, Virginia.
