Erwin Lydell Rock departed this life on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 at the age of 60. Erwin was born to the late Chastine Rock and Elizabeth Monroe Rock in 1958.

Erwin was educated in Caroline County Public Schools. He graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1976, where he played on the football team-on the offensive and defensive positions.  Erwin was lovingly know by everyone as "Cookie Rock".

Erwin was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in 1964 at 6 years of age.  He was a member of Faith Christian Center in Fredericksburg, VA under the pastorship of his brother Dr. Chastine Rock.  Erwin was very active in his service to the Lord and became ordained as a deacon at Faith Christian Center.

Erwin was employed for 28 years by McLane Company in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Later he was employed by the United Postal Service.

"Cookie" was known for his love of gardening and raising hogs. He also had a love for playing baseball. Cookie was known by all and was loved by so many family and friends.

Erwin "Cookie" Rock leaves to cherish his precious memories: his lovely wife, Valerie Rock of Ruther Glen, Virginia, one daughter, Bianca Brenda Rock, two sons: Jermaine Mc Coy Childs of Charles City, Virginia and Brandon Louis Welch (Tylitha) of Ruther Glen, Virginia. One Brother Dr. Chastine Rock (Pastor Ella Rock) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. His adoring granddaughters: Aanieya, Aanieya, Teeghan, Tylar and Makenzie.

He will certainly be missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews ,cousins,  family and friends

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Faith Christian Center , 10606 Benchmark Road, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22408. Interment will follow in the Monroe Family Cemetery, 12446 Golansville Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
