Elverlena Gloria Outerbridge Johnson's Obituary
On January 24, 1948, Elverlena Outerbridge was born to the union of Aulgo Clifton and Charity Mary Outerbridge in Williamston, North Carolina. Growing up, she received Christ and was baptized in the family church, Barnabas Baptist Church.
Elverlena graduated from E.J. Hayes High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Isaac James Johnson, on April 15, 1972, sharing their love through this special union for 43 years.
Elverlena decided to stay at home to raise her family full-time. Her dedication to her family was her first priority, putting her own needs aside to ensure her loved ones were taken care of first.
Elverlena always held God in her heart and constantly gave to others. She enjoyed reading, figuring out crossword puzzles and talking with friends and family.
Elverlena transitioned this life of 68 years on April 28, 2016. She was met on the other side of glory by her parents, her in-laws, sister-in-law Virginia Jones and brother-in-law Isaiah Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Reverend Isaac J. Johnson, her daughters and their spouses Arlisa and David Turner Jr., Tameisha and Matthew Belk, Dastina and Miguel Wallace, her son and his fiancé, Jeremiah O. J. Johnson and Victoria Jackson, her grandchildren, Ava, Daniel, David "Tré" III, Jackson, Blake; her sisters and their spouses, Lillian and the late James Kimp, Ora and Danny Little, Monzella Pratt, Sadie and the late Reginald Dolly, Sandra and Reginald Pickett, Cynthia "Juanita" and the late Sam Scott; her brothers and their spouses, James A. and the late Gloria Outerbridge, William R. and Joe Catherine Outerbridge, Elree and Norris Outerbridge, Fleming and Caterina Outerbridge; her sister-in-laws and their spouses, Pearl and Rudolph Gray, Elizabeth and Stanley Waddy; two brother in-laws Phillip Johnson and Walter Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service (Funeral Service) will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Oxford Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 25215 Oxford Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
Burial/Interment will be in the church cemetery.
