On  January 18, 2022, Heaven called an angel home , our beloved Mother Eloise Eugenia Upshaw Frye, 102. Eloise was born January 17, 1920  in Bowling Green, Virginia, to the late Richard V. Upshaw and Alice Golden Upshaw.  She was the oldest daughter  of ten children.

Eloise graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green, VA. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia.

Mother Eloise has been blessed with a loving family. She was wed to the late Thomas Edward Frye and to this union one devoted daughter was born, Louise Bernice Frye.

Eloise enjoyed reading the newspaper, talking on the phone with her friends and family and would always say at the end of the conversation "Thanks for calling." For a Lady who did not drive, she was always on the go.

Mother Eloise was very active and faithful to Shiloh Baptist Church. She exhibited a spirit of service to the Lord and its congregation, such as the Missionary Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Bible Study and the various Choirs within the church. She had been a servant to the LORD. She had been the mother of Shiloh Baptist Church for several years and an Honorary Deaconess and without a doubt sets the example of faith, devotion and Christian love to everyone.

In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her brothers; Tarleton, Clarence and Richard "Dickey Boy" Upshaw. Sisters; Evelyn Upshaw, Dorothy Nivens, Margaret Joyner and Geoganna Anna Moore.

She leaves cherished memories to her daughter; Louise Bernice Fortune (Floyd, Sr.); two grandsons; Floyd, Jr. (Jackie) and Dwight (Sharon); three great grandchildren, Brandon, (Monique), Mieke and Cameron Fortune; one great great grandson, Bryce Fortune; two sisters, Pearl James and Alice Jackson; two dedicated and devoted friends Yvonne Moffett and Emily Baylor; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 127 South Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be held at Mt. Lawn Cemetery, Woodford, Virginia 22580 on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

A mask or face covering will be required.
