Ella Gray Garlic, 91, daughter of the late William Authur and Fannie Gray departed this life on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Ella accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Chilesburg, Virginia where she was a member of the young adult choir. She attended Caroline County Public Schools and later moved to Washington, DC to pursue a career at Garfinckel Department Store. She retired after 25 years of service and returned home to Caroline County, Virginia.
She enjoyed reading, doing word search and puzzles. She was a avid lover of cats.
Ella was preceded in death by one son, Charles E. Garlic and one niece, Gwendolyn Gray.
She is survived by one son, Rudolph (Pearl) Gray; one devoted brother, Franklin R. Gray, Sr; three grandchildren, Xavier "Snoop" Gray, Dante "Pia" Gray, Sr., Trelan A. "Bootsy" Elder all of Ruther Glen, Virginia; seven great grandchildren, Miyahna Edler, Keion Coleman, DeAndre Coleman, Shante Edler, Amir White, Brittany Banks, and Robert Blount; one nephew, Franklin Gray, Jr.; two nieces, Sheila Taylor and a devoted niece, Cynthia "Missy" Gray; her special cousins Emma Baylor and Lou Boone Young of Ruther Glen, Virginia and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 19, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 with Rev. Kenneth Davis delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
