Thursday evening, September 28, 2023, Carolyn Washington departed this life and transitioned to her heavenly home. She was born on March 8, 1961, to the late Wesley Lee and Mary Washington Lee.
She received her early education in the Caroline County Public Schools. At an early age she confessed Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Mt. Salem Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia.
Carolyn was employed at Hawk's Barbecue on Brook Road in Richmond, Virginia She also worked for Lou's Soul Food and Petro. She enjoyed waiting on her customers serving them lunch and dinner. She also enjoyed cooking, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and fried chicken which were her favorite to prepare.
Carolyn was a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She adored her grandchildren. She was one of the sweetest sisters one could have. She would always have you laughing in any tone of voice she would use. Carolyn loved the Commanders, formerly the Washington Redskins. She was a free-spirited person. You could not disturb her on Sunday and Monday as those were her two days where she spent watching Lifetime movies and taking a well-deserved rest period. She will be deeply missed all who had the privilege of calling her Lizabeth, Lil Carolyn and Liz.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Rousey, brothers, Johnny Washington, Raymond, Edward, William, Wesley and James Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters; LaTasha Williams and Demetria Anderson (Shawn); two sons, Dwayne Washington and Tony Rousey; grandchildren, Da'Montray, Da'Kahyia ,Aason, Shauntrea, Keyshawn, T' Shawn Anderson, Dashawn Budd, Jemekqua and Jahmik Chapman, and Jakwon Washington; great grandchildren; Namoni, Nyari, Journi Malini, Ava, Dashawn, Jr. and Riley; two sisters, Pearl Morgan and Barbara Washington; sister in law, Edith Lee; goddaughter, Shadiamond Taylor; a host of nieces and nephews among them a devoted nephew Korey Washington devoted friends, Pierre Tuppin, Gloria Freeman, Ruby Johnson, Judy Smithers and Louretta Crawley and Laniyah Charity.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Caroline Community Services Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
