On the morning of October 22, 2020, God in His infinite wisdom called home to rest one of his faithful servants, Deaconess Eleanor Chew Foster, affectionately known as "Other mama" or "El". She was born on April 17, 1932 to the late Percy and Jocelyn Chew. Eleanor grew up in Spotsylvania, Virginia and graduated from John J. Wright Consolidated School. Dedicating her life to Christ at an early age, she was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia until her health began to decline. As a member of Beulah she served on the Deaconess Ministry, Choir and Missionary Ministry and also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a faithful supporter of the Beulah Baptist Church Thespian Ministry where she was the top ticket seller for all of the productions.
El was united in holy matrimony to the late great Clinton Foster where they celebrated over 40 years of marriage. They made their home in Spotsylvania, Virginia where the were blessed with three daughters.
Deaconess Foster was employed by the J.C. Penney Company where she retired after 30 years of service. After retirement, she worked several years for Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
Other mama was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She looked forward to her lengthy phone conversations with her sister Katherine Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Tammy, son in law Deacon Casey Jackson, grandson, Anthony Woolridge, granddaughter , Aleya Jackson, great granddaughter, Ma'lia and sister Patricia A. Chew, a host of nieces, nephews and precious other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday October 30, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 31, 2020 at Beulah Baptist Church, 5216 Arcadia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
Online streaming will be available on Facebook under C.W. Edwards Funeral Home.
