Obituary

Edward David Greene entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Bon Secures Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Edward was born June 30, 1939 in Caroline County, VA, to the late Silas Edward Greene and Lovely Pearl Greene.

He was educated in the Caroline County Public Schools.  After graduating high school, he worked for R.H. Robbins, now known as Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, where he retired after 30 years of employment.

Edward was well known for his love of photography and hosting cookouts at his home.  He loved gardening, traveling, and doing woodworking in his spare time.

He was hardworking, nurturing, family-oriented, and always willing to give a helping hand when needed.  He always made himself available to assist on church clean-up days.

At the young age of six years old, Edward joined Second Baptist Church where he was later baptized at the age of eight years old. He remained a devoted member until his recent passing.  He attended Sunday School regularly and he was a faithful member of the Men's Usher Board, Men's Choir, and the Men's Fellowship Group. Edward was the church photographer and for many years, he held the position of Chairman of Trustees.

He was preceded in death by; son, Edward Greene Jr. three sisters, Virgie Anderson, Esther Sheperd, and Helen Wilkerson; two brothers, Robert Greene, and Thomas Greene.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine; son, Wayne Greene (Henrico,VA) , daughter, Melissa Hancock (Powder Springs GA), step daughter, Reverend, C.D. Mosby; five grandchildren, sisters, Christine Duncan (Richmond, VA) and Joyce Garland (Coatsville, PA), three devoted nephews; Thomas "Junie" Greene Jr., John "Buggie" Duncan, Reverend Phil "TC" Wilkinson, very supportive cousins, Lona Galloway and Elizabeth Johnson, who visited and called often, a brother-in-law, Francis "Frank" Harvey, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close neighbors, Dan Swords and Daniel Hall.

Edward will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him!

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 02, 2022 at Second Baptist Church, 26725 Ruther Glen Road,  Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
