Edna Mae Roye, 85, of Bowling Green, Virginia, peacefully departed this earthly life and was called home to Heaven on Saturday, September 13th, 2025. She was the cherished wife of Nathaniel Davis Roye, with whom she she shared 65 beautiful years of marriage.

Born on July 16, 1940, in Sparta, Virginia, Edna Mae was the daughter of the late Raymond Hudson Sr. and Eula Hudson Lee. She was preceded in death by four of her five siblings--Raymond Hudson Sr., Geneva Lewis, Theodore Hudson Sr., and Charles Hudson--as well as her brother and sister-in-law, James and Joanna Roye.  She also mourned the loss of many dear family members and friends who passed before her.

Edna Mae was educated in the Caroline County School System and proudly earned her diploma from Union High School.  Edna Mae accepted Christ at an early age and remained a devoted member of Jerusalem Baptist Church until her health declined. She found joy in arranging and displaying flowers for Sunday services and had also worshipped at St John Baptist Church, where she sang with the Spiritualettes Choir. Her love for scripture was evident in her daily Bible readings, which strengthened and uplifted her spirit.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, a non-profit organization through which she lived the values of love, truth, and kindness in service and fellowship.

Professionally, Edna Mae worked for the Caroline Transportation System for many years before working as a Home Health Aide.  She loved preparing meals for her loved ones and was known for her infectious laughter and vibrant sense of humor.  Gospel music filled her heart, and she had a special fondness for Motown legends like The Temptations, The O'Jays, and Marvin Gaye--whose music inspired her love of dancing. Her favorite television show included Wheel of Fortune , Jeopardy , Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol , and she surely would have celebrated Jamal Roberts' recent win.

Edna Mae was a devoted mother whose greatest priority was taking care of her husband and four daughters. Her commitment to her family was unwavering.as she instilled in her children the importance of unity and mutual support through life's challenges.  Edna Mae's children were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and unity.

Edna Mae leaves behind cherished memories with husband Nathaniel Davis Roye, and her four daughters: Angela Roye Holbert (James) of Atlanta, GA; Michelle Roye Smith (Edward Sr.) of Naugatuck, CT; Audrea Roye of the New York area; and Stacy Roye Lewis (Roy Jr.) of Spotsylvania, VA.  She is also lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren:  Brandon (Precious), Shawn, Roy III (Sierra), Skyler, Edward Jr. (BJ), and Saniya; and four great-grandchildren:  Nai-Jae, Amir, Eliana Michelle, and Naomi--affectionately known as the family's miracle baby. She is also survived by her beloved sister and lifelong friend, Pearl Belcher, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness.
