Obituary

Edmond Noel, Sr., 83, of Woodford, Virginia, departed his earthly home on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Fredericksburg, Va.

Edmond was born on December 22, 1927 to the late Phillip and Annie Robinson Noel. He was the 4th child of 11 born of that union. He was preceded in death by siblings, Phillip Jr., Lucy Mae, Kathleen Bryant, Annie Bell Noel-Lynch, Emily, Alvin, and Issac.

He was educated in Fredericksburg City Schools. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for over 20 years. After his militay career, he worked for the United States Commerce Department, retiring in 1989.

On November 27, 1954, Edmond married Juanita Virginia Coghill, and they were blessed with three sons, Edmond Jr., Lewis Phillip, Sr., and William Sr. Not only was he a devoted husband and father, but he was also a long standing member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he served as a faithful and dedicated Deacon. Some of his favorite pastimes were photography and carpentry.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Juanita V. Noel, and sons, Edmond Jr. (VyCurtis), Lewis Phillip Sr. (Janice), and William Thomas Sr. (Alison). He also leaves siblings, Ellen Rosetta, William (Ann), and John Vann (Gloria). His grandchildren, James Thomas (JT), Sean, Adriane, Lewis Phillip, Jr. (PJ), Christopher, Micah, Will Jr., and great grandchildren, Ayana and Jamari. As well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011, 12 Noon - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Long Branch Baptist Church, 14297 Long Branch Road, Woodford, Va., 22580 with Rev. L. Tremayne Lacey, Pastor Officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
