Aug 19, 1926 — Feb 28, 2022
Woodford
Eddie Roy Monroe was born on August 19, 1926, in Caroline County to the late Leroy and Rosa Lee Monroe. He transitioned peacefully from life to be with the Lord on February 28, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
He accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Saint John Baptist Church, Milford, Virginia. Eddie served on the Usher Board and attended church until his health started to decline.
Eddie received his education in the Caroline County Public School System. He went on to work for 43 years with the Richmond Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Service until his retirement in 1986. After he retired, he continued to work for Don Pitts, Mutt Richardson, and Gary Watts. When he wasn't working, Eddie could be found doing what he loved the most, either fishing or gardening.
In 1965, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Cora Samuel Monroe. From this union three children were born: Patricia A. Walker, Connie R. Gray, and Elsa J. Monroe. This union also blessed him with four bonus children: Yvonne S. Smith, Ernest G. Samuel Sr., Sylvester S. Samuel, and Bernard L. Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Samuel Monroe, two sons, Bernard Samuel and Ernest Samuel Sr., five brothers, Roosevelt, Willis, Thomas, Julian, and Leroy Monroe Jr., three sisters, Anna Washington, Elizabeth Rock, and Mary Mallory.
