Obituary

Doris Yolanda Washington-Ogunkola "Pedie", 62, passed away on Friday, April 19th at Bowling Green Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 10, 1956 to the late Charles and Mary Washington of Milford, Virginia. She joined St. James Baptist Church at a young age and was a member of the Youth Choir, Junior Usher Board and Women's Club Ministry.

Doris was a member of Black Awareness singing group back in the day. She graduated from Caroline High School in 1975 and went on to get her Associates Degree in Accounting at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College.

She worked at ADP from 1987 to 2010 until the company downsized. She later went on to work at Scott's Lawn Service where she worked until her health started declining.

She was the youngest of 5 siblings. She was proceeded in death by her brothers; Charles and Carolle Washington and her sister Sharon Mayo "Bunny". Her step-brothers; Ernest & Michael Robinson and the LOVE of her life her son, Ira Washington "Dink".

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving sister, Rosalind Carter. Her devoted friend of over 30 years, Floyd Roy. Her daughter, Erica Coleman. Her two sons Floyd "Lionelle" and Antwan Coleman. Her lovable grandson, Sincere Coleman. Her aunt Vivian Latney and uncle James Charles. Her riding partner & niece, Charlene Martin. Her GOD-daughter, Kiarra Martin. Her loyal cousin, Cynthia Graham (Jimmy). Two sister-in-laws, Endi B. Washington and Frances Washington. Her brother-in-law, Lonnie Mayo. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Some special friends of hers were Nicole Otero, Robin Johnson, Evelyn Johnson and Kathy. As well as all of her adoptive kids who checked on her once Dink passed away… Thank you all!

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Saint James Baptist Church, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514. Reverend Dr. Bruce Burton will be officiating and Reverend Christopher Stevens will deliver the eulogy.
