Doris Reynolds Holmes entered eternal rest on March 15, 2023, at her home in Bowling Green, Virginia, surrounded by the love of two of her granddaughters, Sherrie, Melissa and son, Walter.

Bullie, as she was affectionately known, was born May 8, 1928, to the late Carrie Gray Reynolds and James E. Reynolds.  Doris attended Caroline County schools.  At an early age, she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chilesburg, Virginia, and was later "mother" of the Church  and sang in the senior choir.  She attended church faithfully and enjoyed listening to the choir and listening to the preaching of God's words.

One of her passions and enjoyments was shopping.  She and her sister-in-law, Barbara, would have all-day shopping outings in Fredericksburg and Richmond.  She loved hats and all kinds of flowers.  She enjoyed family gatherings and loved being with her son, Melvin, until he was called home to be with the Lord.  Many years ago, she had a little dog named "Bacon" which she dearly loved. Doris worked as a caregiver for several years and worked for and retired from Holly Farms.

Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Burton Wright and second husband, Frank Holmes; a son, Clarence "Melvin" Wright; a daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Dawson; a brother, James G. Reynolds; a sister, Thelma Hayes, sister-in-law, Barbara Reynolds and brother-in-law, George Hayes.

She leaves cherished memories to her daughter, Hazel Burrell and son, Walter Wright, both of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Wright of Bowling Green, Virginia; eight grandchildren; a devoted great granddaughter, Asia Dawson; twelve other great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Isabelle Wright and Thelma Boxley; devoted nephew, John Hayes; devoted nieces, Cynthia Wilson (Mario) and Chiquita Kersey (Alfred); devoted friends, Frances "Cookie" and her husband, Luther Dalton and Mary Frances Deyo and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia  22427.

Homegoing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
