Obituary

Demia Beverly Washington, daughter of the late Chassie and Cassie Beverly, was born December 23, 1920 in Caroline County, VA.

She entered into eternal rest on August 11, 2012 at her home.

She was reared in a Christian home and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Newtown, VA and later became a member of St. John Baptist Church where she served until her health failed.

Demia received her education in the public school system of Caroline County.

She worked for Tidewater Telephone Company and Fort A.P. Hill for 25 years.

On March 28, 1942 she was united in holy matrimony with Bonnie H. Washington (preceded her in death) and was blessed with three children. She was a kind, indulgent mother too many. She was full of love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Barney and Virgil Washington both of Ruther Glen and one daughter Myrtle Carey of Warsaw, VA. Two daughters-in-law Karen and Tonya Washington, one son-in-law Austin Carey, five grandchildren Shurray Coleman, Dwayne, Delvin, Whitney and Gavin Washington and two great grandchildren Mason and Justin. Two brothers, John-O Beverly of Washington, DC and Edward Beverly Sr. (Madge) of Ruther Glen. Two sisters, Alice Washington and Eleanor Square of Ruther Glen. Also, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 12:00 noon-8:00pm at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 17th, 1:00pm at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Rd., Woodford, VA 22580.

Rev. Walter T. Young will officiate and Rev. Dr. Alfred Jones will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
