Obituary

Delois Virginia Washington was born on May 24, 1929 to the late Nelson and Mary E. Baylor Samuel. She departed this life at her residence in Caroline County, Virginia on January 15, 2019.

On July 2, 1947 she was united in holy matrimony to Eddie L. Washington. She continued to love and nurture her eight children long after her husband's untimely death. Also proceeding her in death were her three sisters; Earlene Childs, Eva Samuel, and Clarice Malloy as well as her granddaughter, Penny E. Childs.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Salem Baptist Church where she remained until her health began to fail. She attended Penola School in Caroline County. Delois worked various domestic positions where she then later retired from Ramada Inn.

She was affectionately known as "Lois" and "Ms. Wash". She loved her western movies, blues music, and watching games shows. She loved cooking, shopping, upholstery, playing cards, and singing with the kids.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters; Ann Childs (Brent), of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Phyllis Samuel of Woodford, Virginia, Jackie Mickens and Pamela Minor (George, Jr.) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, four sons; Wendell Washington , Leo Washington , Leon Washington (Dale)     and Thomas Washington all of Ruther Glen, Virginia; twenty one grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Taylor (Vincent);one brother, James Samuels both of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Mount Salem Baptist Church, 16170 Moores Mill Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
