Deaconess Ruth Ann Jones, 97, of Caroline County entered eternal rest on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital, with her daughter by her side.
Deaconess Jones was born in Mica, Caroline County, on March 21, 1915, to the late James and Rosa Buckner.
She received her education at Zion Grove Public School in Woodford, and Garnett Patterson Junior High School in Washington, D.C. She was a dedicated member of Zion Grove Baptist Church.
Mama Ruth as she was affectionately known, leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, William Jones Sr.; daughter Jenita G. Lewis of Spotsylvania County; sons Leonard (and Lottie) Armstead and William (and Joyce) Jones Jr., all of Caroline; and daughter-in-law Sadie Armstead of Caroline, 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A viewing will be held at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Friday, April 6, at Zion Grove Baptist Church, 9450 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford.
Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grasty, Pastor will officiate and deliver the Eulogy.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
