Deacon Melvin Lee Boone, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Woodmont Health Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

He was born in Caroline County, Virginia on September 28, 1934 to the late Floyd and Ivy Boone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Boone, two daughters: Mary Scott-Rollins and Shelia M. Boone; three sons: Welford Boone, Gregory Boone, and James Minor; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin L. Boone, Jr. and a grandson, Brian K. Scott.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from noon to 8 pm at the C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 Countyline Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia with interment in the church cemetery.
