On Wednesday October 26, 2016 peacefully and in the presence of his family, Almighty God gently closed the eyes of our Beloved Richard Charles Evans and called him home to his heavenly kingdom.

Richard better known as "Dick" or Deacon Evans was born on September 16, 1923 to the late Thornton and Irene Evans. He was the second of seven children. Richard dedicated his life to Christ at a very early age and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Milford, Virginia. He received his education from Caroline County Schools and at the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy. He was stationed in California for 4 years. Upon returning home from the military Richard gained employment with e RF&P Railroad. He later went on to FMC Incorporated where he worked a great part of his adult life. Richard was also employed at Fort A. P. Hill Military base where he worked up until his retirement.

On February 23, 1952 Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Louise Evans. Richard was a Godly man and was committed to sharing the love of God with their two children Melissa Lane and Angelo "Tony" Evans. Richard took great pride in his devotion to his church. He was a dedicated Deacon at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for over twenty-five years. and attended faithfully until his health began to decline.

Deacon Evans was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Evans; sister Arlene Young and brother Ernest Evans. He leaves to cherish his memories his children Melissa Lane (Pete) of Temple Hill, Maryland, Angelo "Tony" Evans (Valerie) of Milford, Virginia; six grandchildren, Shauntae Lilly (Stephen), William R. Lane (Shakia), Quintara Freeman, De'Angelo Myers, Da'Cory and Keneshia Carter; two great-grandchildren Seandon Myers and William R.E. Lilly; one brother Jesse Evans (Sandy) of Milford, Virginia; three sisters, Gloria Howard of Chester Pennsylvania, Joyce Ray and Louise Wingfield both of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother-in-law, Leon Monroe (Flora) of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister-in-law Helen Evans; a devoted friend, Mildred Shepard and two devoted deacons, Deacon Monte and Deacon Berry.. A host of nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Second Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 17247 New Baltimore Road, Milford, Virginia 22514 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Caroline Community Center 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Wrightsville Road, Milford, Virginia 22514
