Davie F. Monroe, Jr., known to all as "Sonny" entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Sonny was born in Caroline County, Virginia to the late David L. Monroe and Eliza Ann Gallery Monroe. He was the eldest of the remaining living children.

Survivors include his fiance, Ms. Dianne Stone, Richmond, Virginia; three children: Darleen Carlyle of North Carolina, David F. Monroe, Jr. and Nathan Robinson of Richmond, Virginia; nine grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren; three brother: Charles Monroe (Mary) of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Robert Monroe (Shirley) of Milford, Virginia, and Lloyd Monroe of Richmond, Virginia; one sister, Bernice Smith of Stafford, Virginia; 6 nieces; 7 nephews, and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from Noon to 8:00 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, at Noon at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
