David Royal Miles, son of Waverly Lee Miles and Maude Hill Miles, was born on May 31, 1943 and departed this earthly life on March 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Waverly Lee Miles, Jr.

David attended the public schools in Caroline County and graduated from Union High School in the class of 1961. He also attended the Temple Business School in Washington, D.C. After completing Temple Business School, David moved to Yonkers, New York and pursued a career in retail. He was employed by Gimbles Department Store and Bloomingdales from which he retired and later Lord and Taylors.

David accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Bethel Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia under the leadership of the late Reverend E.W. Warfield. While in New York, he attended the Community Baptist Church in Yonkers, New York.

David was a sharp and smooth dresser. Whenever David would come home, everyone was waiting for the many gifts of cologne, perfume, gift sets, hand bags and many other goodies. He enjoyed entertaining his family, high school friends and especially his big sister Shirley and brother in-law Ernest (Breedy). David always displayed his knack for organizing and decorating. We will not forget his many delicious meals.

Cherished memories of David is shared by his sister, Shirley Baylor (Ernest,Jr.) ; brothers, James Miles (Bessie) and Henry Miles, Sr. (Debra); two nieces, Tina Minor (Earl) and Ellen Miles-Sims; five nephews, Dean Baylor, Ernest Baylor, III (Patricia), Malcolm Miles, Henry Miles, Jr. and Cedric Miles (Ladonnica); two great nephews; four great nieces; one great-great nephew and two great-great nieces; three aunts, Pearl Hill Richards, Mabel Hill Harris and Ethel Hill Wright and a host of many cousins and friends.



A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Beth'el Baptist Church, 103 Ennis Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Interment will be private.
