Obituary

David Warren Carter, 39, quietly transitioned to his Heavenly home on Thursday night, January 4, 2024, from the Virginia Home (TVH), Richmond, VA.  This had been his home away from home for the past 19 years.

David was born on Monday, June 18, 1984, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA to Warren H. Carter, Jr. and LaVerne Bates Carter.

His early education began at Faith Baptist Church School, Fredericksburg, VA followed by Orange County and Caroline County Public Schools.   David had started his Senior Year at Caroline High School when tragedy struck on Sunday, September 16, 2001.  Prior to his accident, David had been employed part-time at McDonald's, Thornburg, VA.

David accepted Christ at the age of 12 at Zion Grove Baptist Church, Woodford, VA during a Spring Revival along with several members of the Youth Choir.  The Late Dr. S. H. Carter received them all as candidates for baptism and for membership at First Baptist Church.  David was baptized on Father's Day by Pastor, Dr. Carl Bentley.  He remained an active member where he was a Junior Usher, a member of the Youth Fellowship and attended Vacation Bible School each year.

David enjoyed playing Little League Soccer and Basketball with Caroline Parks and Rec.  He thought he had a "state of the art" basketball court at home where he and his pals thoroughly enjoyed playing.  David also developed an early interest in farming—he loved driving his father's tractor and other farm equipment in Orange.  His sister Nicole and cousin, Amanda were often willing riders on wagon trips.  He was even able to talk granddaddy Floyd into driving his tractor in Caroline.

David loved fried chicken and cranberry sauce.  He was an avid Dallas fan; Georgetown was his favorite college basketball team and he loved to fish.

David's survivors include his mother and father, his sister, Nicole (Steven, Jr) Armstrong; niece and nephew: Carter and Camden Armstrong; step-siblings; Alvin (Margaret) Coghill, Anthony (A'Dan) Coghill, and Taft (Talya) Coghill, Jr.; cousins more like sisters; Kimberly (Cornelius, Jr) Black, Monica French, Alicia Wilkerson and Amanda Carter and more like a brothers; Michael Carter, Jr. and Brandon Lovelace; numerous aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, FBC family, TVH family, and so many other relatives and friends.
