Danny Childs 55, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at his temporary residence in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Danny was also known as "Dick", was born on December 18, 1964 in Richmond, Virginia to Brent and Ann Childs. At an early age he attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, where he learned to read lips and sign due to his hearing impairment. He later attended Caroline County Public Schools where he graduated. He never let his disability stop him from doing anything and he didn't want to be treated differently. He took pride in all the work he did. Even though he worked several different jobs, Wendy's was the most memorable because he took pride in the grill and his chili making skills. The patrons that visited the establishment could tell when Danny hadn't made the chili  to the point before ordering that they wanted to know if he made the chili that day and if he hadn't they wouldn't order it.

Danny had a passion for cleaning cars. He wanted everything just right, he even had to purchase special items in order to get those cars to shine just like they were coming off the assembly line. He loved doing yard work before his health declined. He knew how to trim those bushes just right. On occasion when the weather changed and it was time to clean up the flower beds some of his mother's flowers would go missing. He would also help out in the kitchen always thinking he could clean better than his parents. Danny was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He loved to dance. Danny could see any new dance move and duplicate it. He enjoyed watching Bruce Lee movies and we don't know how many times he hit himself with those nunchucks , we were glad when he grew out of that phase. Danny loved playing bid whist even though sometimes he had a hard time getting someone to be his partner because he loved to bide a NO. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of University of Virginia Cavaliers and the formerly known Washington Redskins even though his father jumped ship. He loved being around family and friends and bowling. Recently his hobby included putting together puzzles with his great niece and nephew and they would even color together.

His sister, Penny Preceded him in death.

Danny leaves cherished and precious memories to his parents; Brent, Sr. and Ann Childs of Ruther Glen, Virginia; brother, Brent Childs, Jr. (Sheryl) of Partlow, Virginia; two sisters, Hope Childs-Howard of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Sonya Howard (Roderick) of Woodford, Virginia; three nieces, Stacey Harris, Brittany Paul (Jamal) and Sascha Howard; six nephews, Brenton Childs, Brett Childs (Elizabeth), Roderick Howard, Jr.,Quinton Howard, Damian Childs and Tor Howard, Jr; great nieces, Saniya, Denae, Ariel and Autumn;  two great nephews, Daniel and Jamichal; three aunts, Phyllis Samuel, Jackie Mickens and Pamela Minor (George); five uncles, Melvin Freeman (Cynthia), Wendell Washington, Leo Washington, Leon Washington (Dale),and Thomas Washington; one great aunt Vivian Taylor (Vincent); two great uncles, Eddie Monroe and James Bill Samuel and a host of devoted cousins and close friends.

A  walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday October 24, 2020 at C.W.Edwards Funeral Home Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday October 25, 2020 at the Childs Family Cemetery, 18030 Balty Road Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546.
