Curtis Shannon, 71, of Caroline County, departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Bowling Green, Virginia. Curtis was born March 1, 1942, to the late William Shannon and Annie May Etheridge Shannon of Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Heidi S. Brown of Norfolk, Virginia; two grandsons, De'Shawn and Bryson Brown; three brothers, Rev. Percy N. Shannon (Regent), Lavoisier Shannon, Waterbury, Connecticut, and John Shannon, Elizabeth City, North Carolina; three sisters, Laura Early (Alfred), Lucy Forbes (Pete) and Esther Mosley (Maurice) all of Waterbury, Connecticut, two aunts, Vergie Spellman and Dorothy Etheridge; three sisters-in-law, Marie Shannon, Rosa Shannon, Barbara Shannon and Marian Davenport and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and devoted friends.

Visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, March 23, at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1000 Old Dawn Road, Hanover, Virginia 23025, with Rev. Marvin Fields delivering the eulogy.

Interment will be at l:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Albert G. Horton National Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
