Corine Roberts, the middle child of the late Tom and Frances Roberts, was born May 4, 1920 in Lugoff, SC (Richland County). Her siblings, who all preceded her in death, were Mamie, Anna, Estelle, and Eddie.

As a teenager, Corine moved to Brooklyn, New York and lived with her sister Anna. There, under the leadership of Bishop Willie Patterson, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was filled with the Holy Spirit. She was blessed to be a part of several ministries and spent her life serving God, her family and friends.

Corine never sat idly and did whatever her hands found to do in the spirit of the Lord and with dedication. Though she never held the title of a missionary, her entire life was dedicated to missionary work. She loved people and wanted everybody to know Jesus. She was salt and light on this earth, witnessing to her neighbors, family and friends. She worked behind the scenes cleaning the church for Sunday morning services and regularly visited, cooked and cared for the sick and shut in. She served in several ministries in the church, including Sunday school, pastor's aide, and the choir, singing and making a joyful noise unto the Lord until her early nineties.

Corine was also a gifted cook and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people. She was known for her soul food and the banquets she lovingly prepared for church dinners and for family, friends, and neighbors who visited her home. Her grandchildren fondly remember and described all the meals she prepared as Thanksgiving feasts. Her family and friends also admired her keen sense of fashion and her fabulous hat collection. She was always dressed in her Sunday best. She was a seamstress by trade who worked in the clothing industry for many years until her retirement in 1985. She also used her gift of sewing for the kingdom of God, making choir and baptismal robes, robes for evangelists, and items to sell for the church building fund.

In keeping with her faith, Corine was a strong Christian matriarch in her family. She raised her children, Andrew and Gladys, to know and serve the Lord. Her grandchildren remember her as a prayer warrior, down on her knees at night fervently praying for her children, grandchildren, church family, neighbors, and friends.

Corine's love for God, her family, and people was undeniable. She was a praiser who did not mind giving God the glory. She brought joy to all who knew her, often sharing a laugh and always finding a way to encourage young people and her loved ones.

Corine was blessed to live 102 years and held on until the new year, departing this life shortly after midnight on January 1, 2023 at her residence in Ruther Glen, VA.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Andrew (Nancy) of Harrisburg, NC and Gladys (Neal) of Ruther Glen, VA; her grandchildren (Marcus, Lee, Shaneé, Danyel, Brandi, Tiffany, and Cornelius Jr.); her chosen family, Reginald, who preceded her in death, (Linda) and their two children (Alex and Julian); her great grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Walk thru viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia  22427.

Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Greater Refuge Church, 2210 Carter Street, Richmond, Virginia 23222 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 13389 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, Virginia 23059.
