Obituary

Clarence Alger Jeter I (Billy) was born January 12, 1943 in Elevon, Virginia of Essex County.

He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 2:58 A.M. at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg , Virginia.

Billy was the first son of the late Thomas and Laura Ware Jeter. He was proceeded in death by a sister Ann ( Bug) Johnson, and three brothers Thomas (Petermouse), Robert (Tucker) and Elmo (Johnny) Jeter.

He joined St. Stephens Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Essex County Public Schools. He was a foreman/ laborer for J A Laport, P & Z Construction, George Hyman Construction, Division II Inc , Fort A.P. Hill and Meadow Farms.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Geneva E. Fortune and to this union four children were born which one proceeded him in death, Clarence Alger Jeter II.

Billy leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife of 48 years, Geneva; two daughters,
Jane "Liz" Johnson (Ronald Sr) of Caret, VA, Victoria "Vicky" Carter (Ryan) of Fredericksburg, VA; Two sons Lance Jeter (Kristy) and the late Clarence "Alger"Jeter II (Rena) of Ruther Glen, VA; Seven grandchildren, Ronald (TJ) Johnson Jr (Danielle), Temika Byrd (Timmy), Dennis (Yuri), Clarence Jeter III (CJ), Mya, Mylea' and Nevaeh; eight great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Avion, Twan, London, Jacob, Joshua, Timmy and Latavia.
1 sister, Inez Adams of Fredericksburg, VA; Three brother-in-laws, Arthur Fortune and Mitchell Fortune of Bowling Green, VA, Lester Johnson of Tappahannock, VA. Two
Sister in-laws Barbara Ann Fortune of Bowling Green, VA and Ester "Duck" Jeter of New Jersey. A devoted cousin, Betty Jean Smith of Richmond, Va., three special friends, Rudolph Ferguson, Jimmy Ware, Phillip Nelson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be Friday, February 17, from noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 29436 Sparta Road, Bowling Green, VA. The Rev. William Gibson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Ware Family Cemetery.
