Cheri Latia Thompson, born on April 14, 1978, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on May 14, 2024, transiting from earthly home to her heavenly abode. She was the beloved daughter of Cheryl Latney Sylvester and Bernard Lewis Thompson.

Cheri's journey began in Fredericksburg, Virginia where she embraced her faith and became a cherished member of Shiloh Baptist Church Old Site before relocating to Maryland, where she found a spiritual home at Spirit of Faith Christian Church. Her devotion to Christ was evident in her favorite hymn "How Great Thou Art" and her cherished scripture, Psalms 23; "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want".

Education was a cornerstone of Cher's life. She attended Fredericksburg Public Schools before completing her schooling in Prince George's County Public Schools. With a commitment to learning, she became a Certified Medical Assistant, embarking on a professional journey that spanned the nursing field to the federal government. She pursued a professional career journey that resulted in her spending the majority of her work life in the Federal Government of Washington, D.C.

Cheri's greatest joys were her children, her two beautiful daughters, Charle and Carle Dyson, whom she cherished deeply and in love with her partner, Derek Toms. She embraced her role as bonus mother to triplet sons, Dillon, Trason and Nolan Toms whom she adorned with all her heart. Cheri's love extended beyond her immediate family to include a vast network of loved ones, friends and cherished individuals.

Cheri leaves cherished memories to her daughters; Charle and Carle Dyson, one brother in love, Willard Sylvester, mother, Cheryl Sylvester, father, Bernard Thompson, second father in love, William Sylvester, beloved grandmother, Deaconess Virginia Latney of Bowling Green, Virginia, devoted aunts; Sandra L. Brown of Milford, Virginia and Cathy Harrell of Waldorf, Maryland, uncles, Vernon Thompson of Woodbridge, Virginia and Michael Thompson of Spotsylvania, Virginia devoted cousins; Merando Latney (Shermika) and Jovan Peyton (Darcell) both of Ruther Glen, Virginia, "play mother" Debbie Wright, devoted brother in love, Sean Thomas, sister in love, Tiffany Boyd; goddaughter Jasmine Boyd, a host of other relative and friends and above all to cherish her memories her #1 ride or die  as she called her, Chaminada Wright.

Cheri will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty and friendship. Her memories will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and devotion that will continue to inspire those she touched. Rest in eternal peace our sweet girl. You will forever remain in our hearts.

Family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 01, 2024, at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427. Interment will follow in H & L Brown Cemetery, Cedon Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
