On Monday, November 21, 2011, Charlie A. Taylor departed this earthly life for an eternal life with the Lord. He transitioned quietly and peacefully at home after spending a weekend surrounded by the love of his family.

Charlie was born on February 3, 1925 to the late Willis and Easlin Taylor, and raised in Caroline County, Virginia. He was one of ten children. Charlie attended Caroline County public schools and at an early age joined the Jericho Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Charlie served as Private in World War II in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in December of 1946.

Charlie later met and was united in holy matrimony to the late Jean Vernell Taylor on December 13, 1958, and to this union was born two children, Dynita F. Taylor and Charles A. Taylor, Jr. While residing in Washington, DC, he was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Calvary Way of the Cross Church of Christ International, where he was a member of the Male Chorus. Charlie was a devoted husband and loving father. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lassiter, Fannie Sims, Easter Harris, Josephine McDuffie, Lillie Pleasant, Elizabeth Boxley, and brothers William Taylor and Russell Taylor.

Charlie retired after many years of work with RF&P Railroad and continued to work for many years as a "jack of all trades". After retirement, he started Taylor Painting & Moving. His many trades included painting, construction, and roofing.

He restored his membership at Jericho Baptist Church in September 2008, and attended services until his health began to decline.

Charlie was a "straight shooter", who told it like it was at all times. His favorite pastime was playing cards, and he loved visiting with friends and family. After much resistance, he enjoyed spending time at Rappahannock Senior Center, where he was known as the "life of the center".

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter Dynita Taylor, and his loving son Charles "CJ" Taylor, Jr. (Alessandra), one sister, Zessie Carter (Thorlough), two grandsons, Nikolai and Patrick Taylor, two brothers-in-law, James Simms (Joanne), and Herbert Simms, sisters-in-law, Hilda Taylor, Helen Fox, Ruth and Margaret Simms, Vivian Cosby(Raymond), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Thursday, November 24th, from 12 Noon - 8 PM at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., and also 1 hour before service time at the church.

Celebration of Life Service: Friday, November 25th, 10 AM at Jericho Baptist Church, 8435 Jericho Road, Ruther Glen, VA., 22546
