Charlie Thomas Coleman, Jr. was born on May 5, 1942, to the late Charlie Thomas Coleman, Sr. and Leona Coleman Brown. His father passed away when Charlie Jr. was six months old. He was reared by his mother and stepfather, Virgil Brown. Charlie Jr. was promoted to glory on January 27, 2021.
Charlie Jr. attended St. John Elementary School and Union High School, in Caroline County, VA. Charlie Jr. loved the Lord. He joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by Rev. John B. Gordon. He faithfully attended services until his health declined and continued to support the church until his death.
Charlie Jr. was drafted to the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Sergeant, during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he held various jobs including construction work in northern VA. Charlie Jr. was a hard worker. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his lawn and flowers. He loved children, his dogs and cats, and loved feeding the birds. Hunting, fishing, hanging with relatives and friends, and watching the Dallas Cowboys win, were his favorite pastimes. A man of few words, Charlie Jr. was kind, generous, and always ready to help those in need. He took care of his mother and step-father and loved his sister's children and her grandchildren as his own.
Charlie Jr. leaves to cherish his memory; his sister Laura "BeBe" Harris, nephew; Michael Harris, nieces; Loujuana Rose Morton (Bruce), Cathy Harris-Ransome (Craig), Angel Brooks (Alfred), Delores Anderson, and Cynthia Fleming, great nephews; Brandon Spurell, Shaun Harris, and Zachary Ransome; great nieces; Stacey Harris, Amber Norman, and Alana Brooks; great, great nephew; Daniel Smith, great, great niece; Ariel Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February, 5, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc; 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the funeral home with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the H & L Brown Family Cemetery, 6100 Cedon Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580
Due to COVID 19 a mask or face covering is required.
