Charles Corey Williams, 49 of Bowling Green, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Johnston-Willis Hospital.
Our beloved, Charles Corey Williams, was born August 16 th , 1971 in Richmond, VA to the late Charles Carroll Williams and MaLinda Garnett Williams. He went from earth to glory on March 8 th , 2021 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA. At an early age he was baptized at Second Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, VA. Corey graduated from Caroline High School in 1989. He attended Norfolk State University on a football scholarship. Corey had many job titles but he loved his Security and Basketball Referee positions most. He had a passion for sports. For years, he played softball with AMC Lawn Care, Carter's, Iverson, and Clancy & Cooks. Corey was raised in 1993 in Welcome Lodge #125 Prince Hall.
Corey was preceded in death by his father, Charles Carroll Williams; his maternal grandparents, Reginald Garnett and Olester Garnett Rich; his paternal grandparents, Aubrey C. Williams and Mazie K. Williams; and his paternal aunt Virginia Maxine Smith.
He was blessed to be the father of one son, Nasim Speller-Williams; and, a daughter, Kennedey Williams. Besides his mother and children, Corey leaves precious memories to a sister, Macy Shaw; two uncles, Reggie Garnett (Felicia) and Leon Smith, Jr.; five aunts, Brenda Baylor, Mary Bradley (Douglas), Vernessa Dabney, Diane Johnson, and Rev. Regina Winston (Henry); two great-uncles, Leroy Ferguson and Theodore Williams; four great-aunts, Elizabeth Jackson, Helen Samuel, Yvonne Sims, and Essie Williams; one nephew Charles Cole; two nieces, Daja Waller and Kayla Waller; and, a host of cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. His lifelong friends were Daryl Golden, Mark Simms, George Washington, Theodore Wingfield and Andre Wright.
A walk through viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday March 19, 2021 at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday March 20, 2021 at Caroline High School Stadium, 19155 Rogers Clark Blvd., Milford, Virginia 22514. Interment will follow in Zion Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 9450 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Woodford, Virginia 22580.
