Charles F. Johnson, 91, quietly and peacefully answered God's call on the afternoon of Monday, January 23, 2012, at the home of his caretakers Namen and Williana Parker of Ruther Glen.

He was born December 12, 1920, to the late Julian Brodas Johnson and Emily Rebecca Sizer Johnson of Caroline County.

He spent his later years surrounded and cared for by his godson and family. He took his role as godfather sreiously and proudly fulfilled the role of grandfather to Malik, Namen and Franklin, his "boys."

A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, January 27, at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 28, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 18562 County Line Church Road, Ruther Glen, Virginia 22546. The Rev. Craig Beasley will deliver the eulogy. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
