Charles Lesley Byrd, 62, of Tappahannock, Virginia, departed this life on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 26 years, Christine; four children, Christy Michele Famble, Christina Janay' Byrd,Charley Danielle Byrd and Tasha Stewart; three grandchildren, Samiya, Amani' and Maliyah; three sisters, Virginia Brown, Ellen Byrd and Darlene Smith; two brothers, Leroy Byrd and William Byrd; three aunts, Lorraine Chambers, Pearl Corbin and Ann Gary; one son-in-law, Samuel Famble; six sisters-in-law, Joyce Byrd, Alease Byrd, Diane Bundy, Rhonda LeVere, Lisa Fauntleroy and Doreen Braxton; one brother-in-law Charles Brown; special friends Gary Taylor and Shirley Pollard and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 12 noon to 8p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 on Wednesday, February 13, and one hour before the service on Thursday.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Hustle, Virginia.
