Obituary

Catherine Diane Ware Hundley, 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Richmond on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Diane was born March 5, 1951, in Central Point, Milford, to Clemon B. and Pauline R. Ware.

Diane graduated from Union High School, Bowling Green, Virginia in 1969. She attended Virginia Union University prior to working for more than 30 years in the health care field. At MCV/VCU, Diane held positions in various departments, including radiology, oncology, ob-gyn and neurosurgery. She also worked in private practices, including ob-gyn and ophthalmology.

At the time of her death, Diane was the M-III clerkship coordinator for the Department of Surgery at VCU Medical Center.

Diane is survived by her parents; two brothers, David Gregory (Vernessa) and Clemon Alphonso Ware, both of Milford; one sister, Shelia Ware Rollins of Bowling Green; two nieces, Tia Nicole Courtney (Eugene) of Ruther Glen and Whitney Ware of Atlanta; two nephews, Derrick Rollins (Calandra) of Fredericksburg and David Ware II of Milford; two great-nieces, MarQuia and Malayla Courtney; six great-nephews, Dakari, Devin and Dallas Rollins, David Earl Ware and Davon and Dondre Courtney; six aunts, Lillian Clarke and Ida Byrd, both of Milford, Mary Fraser (James) of Lexington, Mass., Virginia Ali of Washington, D.C., Lorraine Ware of Hustle and Beulah Ware of Tappahannock; two uncles, Melvin Byrd (Ercelle) of Milford and Robert Rollins of Chance; a caring and devoted cousin, Joyce Byrd Cofield of Arlington; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friday, April 5, 2013, noon to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home, 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, April 6, 2013, 3 p.m. at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 29436 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514.

Officiant: Rev. Earl Newsome, Pastor

Eulogist: Rev. Marvin L. Mills

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
