The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life (Proverbs 9:10 &11).

Deaconess Carrie Nell Reynolds Baker entered eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center at the blessed age of 101.

Our mother's earthly journey began on April 30, 1923. She was the fifth (5) child  born of thirteen (13) siblings to the late Aubrey and Evelyn Hopkins Reynolds in Mica, Virginia. She was educated in Caroline County Schools. Very early in her life she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Deaconess Baker was joined in Holy matrimony to Profit P. Baker on May 11, 1942, for thirty-three (33) years before his passing, their union was blessed with ten (10) children: Ardgen, Arterita, Ocellia, Joseph, Willie, Walter, Timothy, Ervin, Charity, and Profit Baker. After marrying Profit, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she continued to embrace the salvation of Jesus Christ faithfully until He called her home. She was active in many ministries of the church. She sang on the Senior Choir and led many songs; one of her favorite songs was "Bye and Bye." As a consecrated deaconess, a testament to her love of the Lord, "Mama Carrie" was named Mother of the Church in 1994 and held this position, for thirty years (30) until her passing.

In 1996, "Mama Carrie" joined the Caroline Café Site where seniors gather to fellowship, take field trips, play games, shop, and share love. She attended the Café for almost 25 years. She would always talk about how much fun they had. In August 2019, she was given the title Deaconess Emeritus. "Mama Carrie" was a beloved, valued, and respected member of Macedonia. She loved her church and her church family. On her 100th birthday a celebration was held on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The Caroline County Board of Supervisors in a resolution declared April 30, 2023, as Carrie Nell Reynolds Baker Day. In August 2023, commemorating her 100th birthday, the church body named the fellowship hall "Carrie Nell Baker" Fellowship Hall where a plaque was placed at the entrance honoring "Mama Carrie."

Deaconess Baker witnessed progress culturally, racially, financially and a multitude of changes over the course of her life of over 101 years. As a Centurian, living beyond her 101st birthday, it is not as easy as talking about it but with God "all things are possible."

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday June 15, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7187 Macedonia Road, Woodford, Virginia 22580.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 16, 2024, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7187 Macedonia Road, Woodford, Virginia, 22580 with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
