Caroline Childs Fortune, of Milford, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 2, 2009, at Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond.

Caroline was born on November 24, 1922, to the late Carl and Lucy Childs.

Survivors include her husband, William Henry Fortune, one son, William Purcell Fortune; three daughters, Sylvia Mae Gray, Judith Doyle Scott and Barbara Trevor Brooks; ten grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; four sons-in-law; three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Caroline was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia, a son, Melvin and all of her siblings.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 6. from noon to 8 p.m. at C. W. Edwards Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church on Saturday.

A celebration of life will be at ll a.m. on Saturday, November 7, at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, VA 22580. Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, Pastor, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
