Carol Jean Coghill, daughter of the late John Foster and Elizabeth Foster, was born on November 30, 1948, in Caroline County, Virginia. Carol slipped into eternal rest on Monday, July 18, 2016, at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital.

Carol was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Virginia at an early age and remained a faithful member until her death. Her ministries included Senior Usher Board Secretary, a member of the Hospitality Ministry, and Missionary Ministry Assistant Secretary. Her love for Christ allowed her to be a faithful member and participant of Shiloh's Bible Study.

Carol graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green, Virginia. While attending Union High School, she was an active member of the basketball team. After high school, she played with the Bowling Green Hornets adult softball team. She had a love for all sports and particularly fond of Serena Williams and the Washington Redskins. She was employed at Moore's Business Forms in Fredericksburg, Virginia for 17 years until the business closed. In 2012, she retired as Assistant Manager of Iron Skillet Restaurant in Ruther Glen after 21 years.

Carol was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She opened her heart and home to many and was affectionately called Carol Jean.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband of 47 years Deacon Taft Coghill, Sr. her best friend she met on the "back road' when they were 12 years old. Three sons, Alvin Coghill (Margaret) of Chesterfield, VA Anthony Coghill (A'Dan) of Fredericksburg, VA and Taft Coghill, Jr. (Talya) of Ruther Glen, VA; four grandchildren, LaBarbara Fuller, Jamal Coghill, Emani Coghill and Toni "Puddin Pop" Coghill. Three honorary sons, Eric Foster, Jr., George Smith, Jr. and Walker "LT" Childs; one honorary daughter, Angie Foster; one brother, John Foster of Augusta, GA; one aunt, Brenda Robinson; an uncle, Nathaniel Foster and a great uncle, William Mercer. Three sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Foster, Sheila Foster and Arenda Rolax; one brother-in-law, Michael Coghill; devoted friends, Mike and Gloria Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
