Calvin Augustus Childs, 67, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 16, 2010, at his home in Bowling Green, Virginia.

"Ludie" or "C.C.", as he was known to family and friends, is survived by his loving wife, Annie M. Childs, of the home; two daughters, Brenda Kilgore of Richmond, Virginia and Cheryl Samuel of Bowling Green, Virginia; three grandchildren, Alesia, Brittany and Brian Kilgore of Richmond, Virginia; his parents, Floyd and Catherine Bates of Woodford, Virginia; three sisters, Vernell Frenzley and her husband, Willie, Margie French and her husband, Frank, and LaVerne Carter, all of Woodford, Virginia; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Pauline Young of Bowling Green, Virginia and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 20, at St. James Baptist Church, 19514 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia 22514, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. There will be a viewing also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Community Services Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, at Caroline Community Services Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia. The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Dr. Charles F. Baugham, Sr. Interment will follow at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
