Cachita Elizabeth
Myers
Oct 14, 1950 — Jul 10, 2025
Bowling Green
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Tim 4:7 NKJV
For his own purpose and according to His plan, God reached down and grabbed Cachita's hand. On July 10, 2025, Cachita took her flight into the Kingdom of Heaven at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital in Richmond, VA with her daughter by her side.
Cachita (affectionately known as "Chita") was born on October 14, 1950, in Caroline County, Virginia to the late Moses and Pearl Ruth (Smith) Foxx. She was the 17th child born of eighteen children. Cachita was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Beth'el Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Virginia until her health declined. She attended Caroline County Public Schools and was employed with Kellers Aluminum Plant for 30 years and 7 days when they closed their doors. She then decided to use her cooking skills and was employed as a cook at Hardee's in Four Mile Fork for over 15 years until her retirement. Those who loved her knew to ask for "Chita" and if she wasn't there, then they turned around and left.
Chita shared her life with James Murray for over 48 years and together they raised their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her church dearly and supported the congregation as a missionary. What made Chita the happiest was spending time with her family. Her home was the meeting place for Sunday family dinners and for any family who visited from out of town. Summer cookouts were the best at Chita's house in the backyard with music, food, laughter, horseshoes and cornhole. Most of us know that Chita was known for her sweet potato pies and fried chicken. Chita's favorite place in the home was the kitchen. In fact, you could always find her in the kitchen cooking and wiping down the counters. She had a heart of gold and possessed a spirit that drew people to her. She will always be remembered as the person who can put a "smile" on your face, and you never knew what she was going to say. She and her sisters were the Queens of old clichés.
Life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which you live it. Her gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around her. She was a very special person because she was spicy, loving, giving, sassy, kind, sweet, and gracious.
Cachita was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Pearl Ruth (Smith) Foxx; nine brothers, Roy, James, Moses, Melvin, Clarence, Robert, Willie, Richard, and Alfred Foxx; seven sisters, Julia Hudson, Beatrice Gray, Pearl Fenwick, Dorothy Matthews, Alice Baylor, Ethel Foxx, Brenda Johnson; and best friend, Mattie Gordon.
Cachita leaves to cherish her many fond memories and joy to her partner in life, James Murray; one daughter Breta Myers (Roger Abrams); four sons, Dimitri Myers (Angie), Lavon Foxx (Quintina), Craig Myers (Tiesha), and Corey Myers (LaTinya); 14 grandchildren (Leslie, Ebony, LaVondra, De'Angelo, Dimitri, Craig, Brandon, Khaliah, Brandy, Ja'Corey, A'aliyah, Devon, Aniya, and Corianna); 9 grandchildren-in-love; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Deyo; best friends, Yolanda "Meaty" Gray and Deborah Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
